Spring update, April 18, 2021 — Getting going despite coronavirus restrictions
ATAC Club
It seems that, spring is here. The clocks have gone forward, the evenings are getting lighter for longer, and there is a faint whiff that things might be returning to some kind of normal in the near future.
But unfortunately for now, the Dutch government is still intent on restricting team sport, which is putting a bit of a downer on things for us. As such a large and diverse club, we’ve obviously been affected by the coronavirus lockdown restrictions.
But if you had any doubt, let me take the moment to remind you: ATAC is very much still here!
The leadership team is keeping a watchful eye on the lockdown restrictions and is planning for when the situation eases, and allows for us to plan more (bigger) events as a club.
This goes for group rides, runs, swims, and of course social events! It goes without saying, as soon as we can, we will do everything in our power to get firing on all cylinders again.
The rules
At the time of writing, adults over 27 years old are allowed to partake in sports outdoors in groups of up to four (4) people. This is the main rule that affects us as a club — full details can be found here.
With the lighter evenings now with us, club members are taking it upon themselves to arrange group rides, and the Wednesday interval runs are also starting up again.
It goes without saying that these rides and runs will follow current coronavirus lockdown recommendations. But please note, these rides and runs are not officially organized club events.
For the time being there are no officially organized club events. We will resume those when restrictions allow for larger groups, and greater freedom of participation. We’re looking forward to it.
For the time being, we want to continue to promote a safe environment for all our members.
It’s all on Meetup
Rides, runs, and other unofficial club happenings are being organized on the ATAC Meetup, click here.
Group sizes are limited to comply with lockdown restrictions, and waitlists will be made as soon as groups are full.
If you sign up for a ride or run, and can no longer make it, please update your RSVP on Meetup. This means the next person in the waiting list can be notified that there’s space!
So for now, keep your eyes on the club Meetup, keep safe, and ride on.
