2024 Leadership Team

ATAC is a volunteer driven organization and we thank our leaders for providing all of our great training, racing, and socializing opportunities. Our leadership team is elected at the Annual General Meeting.

PRESIDENT | Seb

Mexican born with Argentinean roots living in Amsterdam for over a decade and father of two lovely girls.

I joined ATAC in 2016 during the very first indoor swim session with the idea of finding swim buddies to train with for competitions and open-water events. The crew was awesome, and soon after joining, I was introduced to the club’s running sessions, then to the Sunday social rides, and straight after that, I joined my first training camp. Without knowing I was becoming a triathlete!

Ever since then, I have been an active member who seeks to keep the balance between performance and socializing. I prefer short- and mid-distance events also love trail running, volleyball, golf, stand-up paddling and getting dirty on MTB tails.

On this third year as “El Presidente” my focus will be on enhancing the ATAC experience with more and better trainings, organized club challenges, clinics, and events. My goal is to keep supporting our members to grow in the sport and enhance their sportive adventures with like-minded people in the Netherlands.

Besides organizing all the fun stuff for our dear ATACers, there is still some work to be done to streamline the admin and operations of the club. If you think you can help us let us know!

I am the happiest in the mountains and lakes :)

Saludos!

SECRETARY | fernando

Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, I call Amsterdam home since 2021. I did my first running event in 2016 (a 6km Corporate run, I finished it thinking I was going to have a heart attack) and suddenly this sport that seemed boring to me in the past became fun. But I had some pain on my knees that stopped me from increasing the training volume to become a better runner. That’s when I decided to start with triathlon and joined ATAC in January, 2023.

The other disciplines helped greatly to improve myself as an amateur athlete in general and I no longer have pain on my knees.

The main reason why I stayed in triathlon is that now I can eat as much as I want without gaining weight. Also, the friends I made, the lifestyle and blah blah… But mainly the food!

My main accomplishment in sports is finishing Ironman 70.3 Luxembourg only 5 months after I started training for triathlon. My main goal is to continue making good friends and having fun while doing sports and maybe one day finishing a full Ironman.

TREASURER | PIERRE

I'm Pierre Noraz, of French origin. I spent the last 10 years in Asia and settled in Amsterdam in early 2022. I am a father of 3 and have been into triathlon for over 5 years. I started triathlon with an Olympic distance in 2016 just as a challenge with a friend. Now I'm into anything between sprint and 70.3!

I work for a bank, so I'm happy to try and make good use of my experience in similar situations as ATAC’s Treasurer.

IT Director | martijn

I'm Martijn, the token Dutchie on the team. Having moved to Amsterdam 14 years ago, I now happily live in Haarlem.

I have done 25 years of team sports before stumbling my way into triathlons. Soon after, I joined ATAC for the international, fun, and socially competitive atmosphere.

I enjoy taking my bike out for a ride, wherever and whenever* possible.

* Whenever it's not cold and/or wet.

My day job mostly revolves around fiddling in IT/Tech, and it only made sense to pick up this role within ATAC for the second year. As your IT Director, I will focus on improving the current online systems and platforms to support our club goals further and expand our community.

Running DIRECTOR | Cristi

I’m Cristi , originally from Romania, and have been living in the Netherlands for the past 9 summers. Summers, right?

I started my sports journey 7 years ago with cycling. I joined ATAC around that same time and tried to keep the wheel of some ATAC cycling veterans. For a while they kept dropping me in rain and wind during "social" rides. I am perseverant. Shortly after that I started running and swimming too.

So, here I am, already 3 years doing all triathlon disciplines and I completed a few Olympic distance races.

Because of COVID, all my triathlon events are reported to this year: one Olympic (in Haarlemmermeer) and two half distances (IM70.3 Westfriesland and Half-Challenge Almere).

I joined the Leadership Team as a Running Director. I am not an expert or a fast runner; instead, I am consistent! Because consistent hard work contributes a lot to anyone's success!

So see you soon for a run on the track, in a park around, or on trails!

Training & Coaching director | JOSE

I’m Jose, born in Spain. I came to Amsterdam for a job opportunity 6 years ago and ended up staying longer. I have always liked sports. I played basketball and was a competitive golf player when I was younger. Later on, I focused only on weightlifting. So, no endurance sport until I started cycling in 2018 and met a bunch of crazy people doing this triathlon thing. Not sure how, but a few months later, I was doing a sprint and, in 2021, my first Ironman distance.

I am completely in love with the triathlon lifestyle and the mental game behind it. I am competitive by nature and dream of, one day, racing the Ironman World Championship in Kona.

It will be my second year in the leadership team, I am now the Training & Coaching Director.

Cycling director | Erik

Born and raised in The Netherlands. Originally from the middle of the country, I moved to Amsterdam in my 20s but left the city about 20 years ago. Now living in Monnickendam, a small town approximately 10km North of Amsterdam. I am a husband and a dad of 3, with a full-time job, bike commuting and evening/weekend rides are my primary ways of keeping fit.

Coming from football, I started running in my late 30s and joined ATAC in 2018. I really love the laid-back attitude of ATAC (sure, we do some more advanced rides, but it's always gezellig), the mixed cultures and the genuinely nice people. You can join groups of whichever level you're comfortable with or the advanced/intense groups for proper training or race prep.

Although I'm a more talented runner, I currently enjoy cycling more, mainly because it's easier to have conversations, you can cover larger distances and see more of the surroundings during rides, and it is less stressful on the body. Oh, and the coffee-stops of course.

I joined the Leadership Team as a Cycling Director, with the goal to improve group etiquette and safety, and organize events within the club.

Licensing and Competition director | Willem-Jan

Originally from Belgium. I moved to Amsterdam in 2016 for work, and haven’t left since. Growing up I didn’t do any sports. My sporting career (if you could call it that) started in 2018, when I signed up for the Amsterdam half marathon. Since then I've been bitten by the endurance bug.

In 2020 I decided to sign up for my first triathlon, a sprint distance at the Bosbaan. Boy, did I get my butt handed to me! Afterwards one of the volunteers suggested I’d join ATAC. Since then, I’ve done several olympic distances, 70.3s and even a full Ironman. And I’m not done yet!

Joining this community was one of the best decisions I made. Every week I get to meet up with an international group of people who share the passion of swim, bike and run. All in a social environment, where people support and inspire each other.

As ATAC’s Licensing and Competition Director I want to enable our members to achieve their racing goals and celebrate their finish lines together.

Swimming DIRECTOR | EMMA

I have been living in Amsterdam since 2017, having grown up in a tiny village in England and living in some bigger places. For the last few years I have been dabbling in triathlon; it happened during the pandemic when I was swimming in the only open pool in NL, outdoor as the snow fell and cycling around the borders of NL when they closed. I added these to the running, and I signed up to the ATAC Mallorca training camp where at the end of a week, I realised the transitions weren’t anything to be scared of! That year I set myself the goal of completing an Olympic and Half Distance. The next year I focused on the half distance and this year I am doing my first full distance in Roth. Next year, let’s see!

I have been running for a few years, I finished my first marathon in London in 2015 and have now completed over 30 marathons across 30 different countries and 5 continents. My background is in art and design which I studied at university and contrastingly was in the British Army alongside my studies. I still work in the design industry as Director of our China business.

Outside of work and training, I enjoy times with my friends wherever in the world that may be; skiing, scuba diving, trekking or any adventure I can convince others or they convince me to join!

In 2023, we restarted the NTB Team Competition entering 3 club teams for the 2024 season, offering a competitive but fun, team platform and letting others know more about ATAC. I am also enjoying the role of Swimming Director, having seen my swimming improve over the last few years, having had many fun moments with the club, I wanted to help enable the same for others. So here I am, as ATAC Swimming Director, looking forward to meeting you.

membership DIRECTOR | Enrique

My name is Enrique Cabrera, I am a Mexican with a Dutch passport. I've lived in Europe for more than 14 years (2.5 years in the UK; and 12 years in the Netherlands, Amsterdam). This year I'm joining ATAC for the second time (the first time I joined lasted one year in 2018). It is the best triathlon club in Amsterdam!

Since I am not rich and bills are not free, I spend some time working as the Head of Governance Risks and Controls at a large oil, gas, and energy company.

I started triathlon in 2006 after being challenged by some ex-coworkers. I got hooked on the sport and have completed many races, including 2 full IronMan, several half distances, and many sprints and Olympic distance races.

I like triathlon because it keeps me fit, busy, and healthy. Many people say that before running, you have to walk. I say, before running, you have to swim and cycle!

Nutrition Director | LOTTE

My name is Lotte, I’m Dutch and moved to Amsterdam in 2013 and I’m still here, I fell in love with the city!

Coming from the countryside, I’ve always loved to do outdoor sports like running, cycling, sailing and my big passion: skiing. Due to Lorna Wilson, with whom I worked  together as a Personal Trainer (NSCA) and Nutrition Coach (Precision Nutrition), I started doing triathlon and joined ATAC in 2018, just to do one sprint triathlon… and then I got hooked by the sport, adrenaline and amazing ATAC sport buddies to train with. Did some more sprints, olympic distances and 70.3’s and then suddenly I qualified for the Ironman World Championships in 2022 in Utah, which was one of the best experiences in my life.

Now I’m back Sales, but I’d love to keep following my passion for motivating others, sharing my experiences and empowering athletes to become better in the 4th discipline of triathlon, which is nutrition.

EVENT AND SOCIAL Director | mariana

I’m a proud Portuguese girl from Porto.

I moved to Amsterdam in the Fall of 2022 in pursuit of my love for techno music and the adventure of living abroad. I worked in a big corporation during the day, and a bar at the night. Currently I pay for my ;triathlon addiction; as a Marketing Manager in a consultancy firm.

I started my sports journey in April 2023 after (barely) running the Johan Cruyff Foundation Run. Slowly my love for running grew, and as a swimming enthusiastic cycling daily through Amsterdam, I joined ATAC in October 2023. Since then, I’ve ran many races including the Dam to Dam, Zandvoort Circuit Run, and two half marathons.

I’m currently training for the TCS Amsterdam (full) Marathon, recharging my energies with weekly swimming sessions, and slowly exploring the Netherlands with my vintage bike. Triathlon has given me discipline, the opportunity to push myself, and a community that always has a helping hand and a warm smile. That’s what I was looking for, that’s what I found, and that’s why I proudly stayed.

MErchandise Director | Celine

I'm Celine, originally from France, and lived over 6 years in Amsterdam.

I joined ATAC when I moved to Amsterdam and it was one of my best choices!  Some of my best friends are from this club. Countless weekends and holidays, and of course races together, a great social spirit.

What I enjoy most about triathlon is the social part. I organize weekly rides and runs, as I really enjoy training with others, and sometimes racing.

I am a Business Developer Manager for work, and previously worked in Supply Chain, so I'm happy to help ATAC with their merchandise.

comms. Director | Neil

A long-term resident of ATAC and Amsterdam, I’m originally from Scotland – I spent much of my childhood on my bike, mountain biking, before finally hanging up my mountain bike shoes in favour of road cycling. I spent a few more years road cycling before discovering the world of triathlon and giving it a tri (see what I did there?).

I learned to swim a little, and to run – not too fast – then did my first triathlon a few years later. Since then, I’ve done all triathlon distances from sprint through to Ironman. It’s fair to say that cycling is my favourite discipline.
